I am interested in installing the Visual Studio 11 Beta (and the actual release when it comes out).
But I am one of the unlucky that has to support Windows XP installs for 2 more years.
We run an N Tier shop. (SQL 2008 -> Entity Framework/WCF -> WPF) I would like to use .net 4.5 for the middle tier (Entity Framework and WCF).
But I am worried. There are several bug fixes in .net 4.5 for WPF.
If I develop a WPF application (using Visual Studio 11) that targets .net 4.0, will those bugs still happen on a machine that has .net 4.5?
I am concerned that I will make my .net 4.0 application (that, unknown to me, uses one of those "fixed" bugs) and think it all works great (because I have .net 4.5 installed).
Then, when it is run on a Windows XP machine with only .net 4.0 on it, there will be bugs that make me look bad.
If I "Target" 4.0, am I really getting 4.0 (Bugs and all)?
