Custom Controls and Xaml TextDecoration

In the translation (SDL Trados) and publishing (Adobe InDesign) domain when translating or typesetting text one can create and add custom XML tags containing text. When viewed one sees some kind of text decoration indicating the text is contained in a custom tag. For example, in Trados the tag has a triangle image on each side of the text with the taq name displayed (or not depending on a property setting). In Adobe InDesign something similar is displayed. Of course, the underlying tag is pure XML (Xaml) but for display purposes the decorator give the user information about the kind of data they are dealing with.

Being new to building custom controls with WPF (or for Windows 8) I was thinking that I could subclass a TextBlock and build a custom Xaml control that would provide the properties and methods to handle such custom tags. But I could really use some more experienced devs to point me in the right direction so I get this project off to a right start.

Regards,

Rob
