Testing tools, with my C# WPF application - advice needed on how to compare images

Hello All,

I have written an application in WPF, and now I am looking at creating automated testing procedures for it. I am using TestComplete, from the Smartware vendor.

The issue I am faced with, is the following: I have an image, that displays a grey circle when idle, a red circle when inactive, and a green circle when active (a certain property in my model). I use a converter, to decide what image to display.

In TestComplete, I would like to be able to test what image is being displayed. The filename of the circle being displayed is not part of the model class, and I would also not want to have it there. I know strictly speaking this question probably needs to be asked in another forum, but I am hoping that someone here would be able to give me some sound advice. What do you use to compare your images in automated testing?
