HI
I have a number of basic questions on the Xaml designer in VS2013. I'm reasonably familiar with the corresponding features in VS2010, however the behaviour in VS2013 seems very different. Also, I cannot find any documentation/tutorials etc other than the most superficial.
For instance:
Lets say I have a GroupBox containing a grid, and I'm about to fill it with controls. So I start by dragging a label from the Toolbox, and dropping it into the middle of the Groupbox, as I would in VS2010. Bang - my grid is gone - it's beenreplaced by the Label! Not what I expected to happen at all. So on deeper investigation I note that in VS2010, thegrid is highlighted as I move to drop the label; whereas in VS2013, I get a fat highlight around theGroupBox instead, so presumably this means I'm going to drop the label into the GroupBox rather than the grid, and because the groupbox can contain only one control, the grid is replaced. Logical enough, but not helpful at all. How can I get back to the sensible VS2010 behaviour?
Furthermore, I find that I can drop the label directly onto the design surface, outside of the window. I can then pick it up from there, and then the whole drag and drop behaviour is totally different, with red and black dashed guides and tooltips.
And what do all the changed mouse cursors mean? The two superimposed squares suggests 'Copy' to me, but that's not what it does.
etc etc
I have spent hours scouring the web and the Help system for answers, but I'm getting nowhere. Can anyone shed some light?
thanks
