We've recently released a WPF app, that's replaced a really old VB6 app. This morning one of my users had a problem opening some data using the data. The error she was getting is:
"The communication object, System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel, cannot be used for communication because it is in the Faulted state." I've seen this error before and found that it was because I was using ausing statement when opening the WCF service I wrote to fetch/save the data. (Please see this Stackoverflow article about it) so I fixed that many months ago.
I had the user go to a different computer and try doing the same thing, and it again failed, same error message.
I tried finding out what was going wrong on my dev box, in VS 2012, but it worked fine. I couldn't see any problems at all.
So, most of the time it appears to work, but sometimes it doesn't. Both machines are Windows 7 Professional machines, 64-bit. Nturally, mine being a development box, is more powerful. However, we've got other users using the same bits, working fine. So what's causing this?
I don't know if this will help or not, but here's something from the event viewer for the second machine the user tried it on. (This second machine is a 32-bit version of Windows 7 Pro. I can't get to the user's machine as she's busy right now.)
