Hi,
I am looking for some examples of code and am hoping you can point me in the right direction.
I have a winforms app (not written in .net) that I want to convert to C# and WPF. It has a main window that contains toolbars, a menu, and MDI child data entry windows, . The user picks an option from the menu and a form appears within the main form allowing the user to add/edit the data. Multiple forms can be open at a time.
The pages make use of tab controls as there is quite a bit of data for each data type and the data fields are easy to group. There is a consistent set of buttons on every form (save, edit, lookup, media, alerts, etc. - although some buttons that appear are data dependant - no media button if no media is used for that dataset.)
I need to come up with a WPF approach that looks just like the winforms design. This is because we want to migrate our users to .NET (and eventually Win 8), but if we make too much of a UI change, they will not migrate, creating a support headache for our limited support staff.
Once we get them all using the new WPF app, we can slowly introduce some of the cool WPF features. But for now, maintaining the UI is critical. NOTE: Even if I didn't feel this way, my boss does.
Are there any WPF sample applications that I can get the code to that use a similar approach? Or even examples that might guide me? If I can't get close enough to the UI, I will be forced to stay with Winforms and I really don't want that as MS has apparently stopped all Winforms coding (I have found bugs that have been around since VS 2003.... and still aren't fixed.)
Any and all help is GREATLY appreciated!
